Bluebird to launch electric truck

So the Bluebird project is about more than land speed record attempts: the Bluebird Innovation Group, of which the speed record team is a part, is applying its knowledge to the real-vehicle world and launching an electric truck. Not much detail available as yet, but this 3.5-tonner is claimed to have an “impressive payload” and “will break new ground in terms of load-carrying ability, value for money and delivery performance”. It’s “high on environmental performance, low on running costs and optimised for the city.”
The truck, said to be the culmination of “ten years-worth of research and development”, will be offered in a variety of configurations – box van, pick-up, chassis cab, curtain-sider and more – and will be compatible with systems such as battery-swapping to keep it on the move all day, every day. Prices will be “comparable to an equivalent diesel-powered commercial vehicle.” Formal announcement comes at the end of the month, with test-drives from November; keep an eye on bluebirdautomotive.com and Bluebird Innovation Group (BBIG) for more (thanks to @bobbyllew and @mikeboxwell).
