Design Concept of the Day: Saab Nespresso

June 10, 2011 § Leave a comment

Car meets coffee machine. This Saab-sponsored project imagines a car inspired by a non-automotive brand, in this case Nespresso, maker of snazzy espresso machines and supplier of coffee capsules to go inside ’em. Despite this, there’s still some clear Saab references, not least to the 9-X BioHybrid concept. The work of Umea University design student Eric Leong, a Canadian, it has solar panels across its roof that can feed power to your house, and a versatile rear deck which opens out for open-air seating. Leong’s done some nice studies for a 2015 Prius whilst on an internship at Toyota, too. Thanks to carbodydesign.com.
