Design concept of the day: Opel Icona

It’s a family-sized commuter car for 2050, capable of travelling on land or on water; Juan Pablo Bernal P, an MA student at the Umea Institute of Design, Sweden, proposes this sail-enhanced EV as a solution for an overpopulated world when societies have to consider other places to live – floating cities, perhaps. His project was sponsored by the GM Europe Design Centre of Adam Opel GmbH, so you never know, this could be the amphibious Astra of the future. Full gallery here; thanks to inhabitat.com.
