Britain’s Lightning Car Company is looking for £15.5million in investment to put its GT into production. The luxury coupe could be ready for launch in spring 2012, says the firm, which plans an output of 250 a year. It’s rear-wheel drive, with “a German-sourced” electric powertrain combining twin motors to deliver 400bhp; top speed is 125mph, 0-60mph acceleration takes less than five seconds, and a touring range of over 150 miles is promised. A range-extender option will also be available, giving up to 225 miles, and a four-wheel drive version is under conisderation as well. More details at the Lightning website.
