- 60 entries have been received for the RAC Brighton to London Future Car Challenge, 6th November, which will precede the long-running London-Brighton veteran car rally the next day. Cars taking part will include the Liberty E – an all-electric converted Range Rover with a claimed 200-mile range – plus the Vauxhall Ampera and plug-in hybrids, EVs and low-emissions vehicles from most of the major manufacturers and various aftermarket converters.
- Ford confirmed its first plug-in hybrid in an announcement at the Paris Motor Show; it’ll be a C-Max, due 2013. To feature a super-clean Atkinson Cycle engine, too.
- Porsche is testing a plug-in hybrid Panamera saloon,but with the 500bhp twin-turbo V8, so it ain’t an economy machine. Decision on its production future later this year.
