Paris preview: Saab 9-3 ePower

September 22, 2010 § Leave a comment

Saab’s Paris show prototype is the first of a fleet of 70 electric 9-3 ePower SportWagon estates which will go on trial in Sweden early next year. This family-sized estate is said to have a range of 124 miles, a top speed of 95mph, and a 0-60mph acceleration time of 8.5 seconds; its electric motor develops 184bhp. The lithium-ion battery pack is mounted where a conventional 9-3’s exhaust system would be, and driving dynamics and weight distribution are little affected. Saab’s ePower team in Trollhatten is to monitor the fleet in a variety of usage patterns and driving conditions.
