BMW hints at new hybrid

BMW is playing silly-buggers in the blogosphere and has launched a blog called… dontblogaboutthis.com. It’s the German sense of humour. Anyway, it’s teasing us with some pics (“this is not a spy shot”) of what appears to be a 6-Series coupe, handily pointing out that the wheel arches are different, the tyres are very narrow, there’s only one tailpipe and there’s probably a different chassis under that bodyshell. In the video, there’s no engine noise as the car pulls away, suggesting that it’s a hybrid. Best guess so far is that it’s a ‘mule’ (running prototype) for the EfficientDynamics programme.
- Further rumours doing the rounds: is a plug-in hybrid Lexus LF-A under development? A prototype has been snapped by spy photographers in Death Valley, with a couple of odd panels that look like covers for plug-in points. And a hot-hatch hybrid Citroen DS4 Racing, with the Peugeot 3008’s 200bhp Hybrid4 diesel-electric powertrain (Auto Express)?
