Peel minicar: revival underway

Peel Engineering, recently reborn and featured on BBC’s Dragon’s Den, is to make a limited production-run of 50 microcars to its 1960s template. The tiny Peel P50 (pictured) and Perspex-roofed Trident were semi-scooter three-wheelers with a single door, built on the Isle of Man 1962-65. The 2010 edition has an electric powertrain in place of the old DKW-sourced 49cc single-cylinder – and will cost a rather staggering £12,500 or so, rather more than the £199 of their original era. For serious collectors and bubble car obsessives only; there’s very little info on the Peel website, but they are taking deposits…
