More microcar revivalism

August 23, 2010 § Leave a comment

A Dutch transport logistics expert has created a take on a modern microcar. Ralph Panhuyzen’s Space Efficient Vehicle (SEV) is a spiritual successor to the BMW Isetta and Messerschmidt, he says, and a motorcycle-car crossover. A streamlined three-wheeler taking up little road-space, it seats three in a V-pattern, and would have an efficient but conventional powertrain to reduce costs: a 500cc two-cylinder delivering 80mpg and 90mph has been suggested. Panhuyzen has kept its front end ‘deliberately bland’ as he hopes to license his design to manufacturers. More at his ‘Smart For Three‘ blog.
