General Motors has been showing off three autonomously-driven electrically-powered ‘pod cars’ at the World Expo 2010 Shanghai. The EN-V cars, called Miao (Magic), Jiao (Pride) and Xiao (Laugh) “demonstrated their capability both with and without occupants on a closed driving course complete with curved and straight roads. They showcased their ability to react quickly to unforseen obstacles and changes in driving conditions, as well as their great manoeuvreability and agility”, says GM.

The EN-V concepts feature wireless networking tech, video conferencing, vehicle-to-vehicle communications and GPS – and occupants can remain hooked up to social media whilst they ride.
