Citroen Survolt on track

July 7, 2010 § Leave a comment

Citroen’s Survolt electric concept is to hit the track for the first time – though only for a showcase guest appearance at the Le Mans Classic this weekend. The Survolt’s a stunner, however; built around a tubular chassis with flat underside and carbonfibre bodyshell, it looks every inch a Le Mans GT-class contender.

Its pair of electric motors give 300bhp – available between 0-5000rpm – and it’s capable of 162mph and 0-62mph in less than five seconds; it has a 200km/124-mile range between recharges (so it’s not ready for the 24 Hours just yet)but can be juiced-up in two hours on a quick-charge system. At the wheel will be experienced Le Mans racer Vanina Ickx.
