Tweaks to the Smart Fortwo this autumn: besides a refreshed interior and some new styling options and accessories, its petrol engines are to get more economical. The 1.0-litre three-cylinder unit will deliver an improved 57.7mpg (60bhp and 70bhp versions) thanks to revised engine control software, and its carbon dioxide emissions will come down to 97g/km. Output of the Brabus version is upped to 101bhp. These revised versions will be launched at the Paris Auto Salon this autumn, as an interim measure before the all-new model, co-developed with Renault-Nissan, arrives in 2013.
