More EV charging points for Birmingham and Coventry

July 5, 2010 § Leave a comment

Electric vehicles can now be sent to Coventry – and Birmingham. The latest phase of the CABLED programme has been launched with the installation of  new city-centre charge points in both, for a 12-month trial of 110 vehicles. 36 points will be available for public use in the cities.

The CABLED project is led by the Arup consortium, with EV data analysed by a team at Birmingham’s Aston University, and the charging points are provided by E.ON; backers include the Technology Strategy Board and the Advantage West Midlands regional development agency. More information, including maps of the charging points’ location, is at cabled.org.uk .
