A newly-founded organisation called the Electric Automobile Association (EAA) is to hold quarterly events in London for the electric car industry. Formerly known as the Zero Emission Vehicle Foundation, the EAA wants these to aid networking and publicity for the electric vehicle market.

Corporate membership of the EAA costs £495 a year, and the speakers at the first event (16th March, at the IBM UK HQ on London’s South Bank) will be Andy Heiron, the head of Renault’s electric vehicle programme; Andy Hadland, programme director of Racing Green Endurance, a team of Imperial College engineers aiming to break endurance-speed records with their 400bhp electric racer (pictured); Stewart McKee of marketing consultancy Electric Village; and John Bentley, leader of IBM’s Smarter Energy projects.
