AMP Electric  Vehicles of Cincinatti, Ohio, is going into the retro-fit business; it has developed an electric-drive powertrain for the 2007-2009 Saturn Sky and Pontiac Solstice roadsters. It is doing a deal with motor-maker Remy, and the warranted conversion will cost $25,000 before tax credits.  The AMP Sky and Solstice are said to have a range of 150 miles between recharges, and AMP is working with a supplier to fit dedicated recharging points in the garages of buyers. The company is now considering conversions of a four-door saloon and small SUV, probably GM vehicles.
