Geneva preview: Italdesign-Proton hybrid concept

February 15, 2010 § 2 Comments

Italdesign-Giugiaro has developed a hybrid concept car for Malaysian car-maker Proton. The as-yet unnamed concept, to be shown at the Geneva Motor Show next month, is said to offer family car spaciousness within city car dimensions, thanks to innovative interior packaging; rear legroom is on a par with that of an SUV, says Giorgetto Giugiaro. The cabin will seat four, and overall length is less than 4m.

The interior space is due to a raised platform, which also aids easy access; the batteries slot under the floorpan at the rear. There’s a small engine up front, but this acts only as a generator to charge the lithium-ion batteries, and drive is fully-electric.
