Here’s the hybrid answer to an Audi A3 or BMW 1-Series: the Lexus CT 200h, a posh five-door small family hatch with a difference. Developed from the LF-Ch concept car seen at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year, the CT 200h is kitted out to compete with its top-drawer rivals.
Neat features include remote touch-pad controls for the infotainment systems, and a four-mode hybrid system with ‘dynamic’ setting. Power comes from the Toyota 1.8 VVTi petrol engine, with an electric motor which can propel the car alone for short distances at low speeds, a system developed from that of the latest Prius and the upcoming Auris Hybrid.
The CT 200h will be formally unveiled at next week’s Geneva Motor Show, and production will start towards the end of the year.
